Character Animation
You may have seen movies like Shrek, which had purely
3D fictional characters. Just like buildings and regular
objects these characters are made of 3D
mesh, but this mesh moves, walks, runs, speaks, etc.
Character animation is the task of making these meshes
come to life with realistic motion.
The process actually uses a 3D version of bones and other
advanced techniques to control the movement. The more realistic
the movement the more bones and adjustments are needed.
Each part of an animated character can also have intelligent
controls that automate some movements when combined with
others.
